Add distance and time difference hit-data to the same line as the hit, rather than below it. Many (in fact, I'd say nearly all) of use use widescreen displays these days.

Users will getting the chance to upload an image of the bill they're registering. First of all you'll guess this would need a lot of webspace, however there are already projects for this. For example "postcrossing.com" is using amazon web services for images.

Would be nice to see the relevant numbers of notes entered, e.g. not Nxxxx1016xxx, but Nxx083xxxxx, and not Xxxxx6428xxx but X213xxxxxxxx. And why not make shortcodes visible entirely, it's not like you can deduct the whole serial from seeing that a note's shortcode is J023B5.

Not everytime you have the chance to track a bill on the eurobilltracker-website. For example in a situation without internet. That's why i think it would be nice to add a field on the "new bill"-page, in which you can set/change the correct date and time of your track.

For remembering particular accounts (for example of friends), I want to propose a tool in which you are able to organize your "contacts". This could be a simple list or also a table.. The other account has to agree that it is one of your contacts, just like a "friend requiest" (like on geocaching.com). -> I don't think it makes sense to add private message. Because my idea is to visualzie the contacts in a table, there should be also a column with the email-adress.

It says on (almost) all the bills that it they are from 2002. However, in year 2003 Jean-Claude Trichet became the new EZB president. Since then there are new signatures on the bills. These bills (i guess) were printed in the same year and so they aren't from year 2002 (although on the bild it says "2002"). I vote for a new selection menu in which you can choose the signature of the bill. Then on the summary page it shows the right year.

You can lock note data columns by selecting a default, how about letting us enter data manually and then lock it. When getting back from shopping and I have a bunch of notes of different values I start by entering the values of all notes before typing any other data. Leaving the value field unlocked causes problems when using the tab key to navigate from field to field as I don't want to go there anymore. A little checkbox to lock the column would help. Ilustration: http://i.imgur.com/yK10I.png A similar issue is when you have typed in a default comment but encounter a note in your bundle that you would like to further comment on. Currently there is no good solution to this, you can remove the default comment on all notes in that batch - or you can set the note aside to enter separately. It easy to find lists of all cities in a region. It could be interesting to have a closed list of cities on eurozone's countries. This would avoid constantly wrong spelling, incomplete names, . . .

When I use the support system to search for comments that contain Rabobank, I will find (among others) rabobank - 10 Rabobank - 34.210 Rabobank new - 2.873 Rabobank New - 45 So there are 10 + 45 notes of which I used the wrong case in the comment. To edit this I can click on rabobank - 10 and Rabobank New - 45, but when I click that not all notes with the same comment regardless of case are selected. When I try to change the comment to "Rabobank", I get an error message that I must specify a different comment and not the same. In conclusion there is no easy way to change the case in the comment of these 10 + 45 notes. (Easiest way is to change the comment of all 34.220 notes from "Rabobank"/"rabobank" to "test" and then after that is done change all comments from "test" to Rabobank. But I think the support system should not be (ab)used in this way).

right now, we are able to search our notes by comment, city etc I would like it if I would be able to search them by postal code as well! for example: I live in nijmegen, postal code 6544 but I also enter notes from other parts of the city, say postal code 6511 would be great if I could just use the search field, type 6511, and all my notes entered in that part of town come up!

The note report should have a new line, with information about the signature on the banknote. For example: "[...] This means the note was printed in ... for ... . The note bears the signature of BCE governor Jean-Claude Trichet." The governor name could eventually be made clickable, and link to a special EBT page with basic biographic info, a picture, and information about the period when the governor was in office (e.g. Trichet 2003-2011).

Information about where a banknote has been put into circulation first [updated]

A hard one: By analysing EBT banknote data, it will be clear in which country a pooling note has been put into circulation by the pooling note system. For example: most (all?) German 5€ R005/R006 X2012*** notes have been put into circulation in Estonia. When you enter this kind of note, this can be the new note report: "Note Xxxxx5522xxx has been entered once. The short code is Rxxxxx. This means that the note was printed at Bundesdruckerei (Germany - Berlin) for Germany. The note has been put into circulation in Estonia. Users who have entered the note are : ....." If the origin of pooling is unsure, "probably" can be added of the extra info can be deleted.

The title says it all. Transform the 'New notes' page into a Google Maps interface, click the map and pop-up a dialog which would allow to enter notes. When right-clicking on Google Maps and selecting 'What's Here?', there are locations and postcode data which could be retrieved as well as accurate GPS coordinates. Couple that with a way to register locations with a custom name to bring them back later (as it's done now with top 10/last 10 locations).

I live in a comparatively small town and have more or less regularly the case that I get a note I already registered. I get an error message telling me that I probably made a mistake. My suggestion is just to remove that sentence that carries no infromation whatsoever anyway. The advanced solution would be to load the serials of the note and highlight the coincidence which would make it clear to me that I got a note back. Of course it is clear to me that these can't count as "hit".

If this would be implemented this would be a very huge impact on the site/server, because then for every entered note a search must be performed to determine if this is a re-entered note or not. This would lead to an additional 30-50 thousand searches a day. That's a lot of performance loss.

Maybe it's better that there will be two messages when you re-enter a note:
"You have already entered this note on 2011-11-30 10:35:09. You are probably making a mistake."
and:
"You have already entered this note on 2011-01-12 11:20:43. This might be a boomerang note."

The first one can be displayed when you re-enter a note within 1 (or 2 or 3) months after the first entry, the second one can be displayed when you re-enter a note more than 1 (or 2 or 3) months after the first entry.

I just noticed the EBT forum is accessible via SSL. It would be nice to be able to use the EBT site itself through an encrypted connection too. I'm trying now, and https://www.eurobilltracker.com redirects me to http://en.eurobilltracker.com (no SSL). Inserting the "s" in the english site doesn't redirect me to an uncrypted site, but the address bar doesn't show the usual blue button/area. The "Forum" link in the EBT site could be changed to point to the SSL version too.

In the summary page of notes, there is Distributions, Notes/User 500 000+ 1 100 000+ 18 50 000+ 46 10 000+ 232 5 000+ 396 1 000+ 1 279 500+ 1 859 100+ 4 300 50+ 6 001 10+ 12 679 5+ 17 231 1+ 30 573 On average, every user from Finland registered 417.02 notes. Like that. What I'd like to see is: Average, World(569.80)+ 10302 (No idea if this is even close) Average, Finland(417.02)+ 1765 (No idea if this is even close)

There's still one nuisance that'd need to be fixed. All the external files (javascript, images, css) would also need to be transferred over HTTPS so that the browsers would believe that the page is indeed secure. I'm working on this at the moment. The link to the forum could indeed be https.

I'm a bit unsure if we can expect everyone to have access to https sites (consider corporate firewalls and such). Otherwise we could quite simply have the login form always submit its data to the https variant. Someone would need to come up with a clever user interface solution for selecting whether the user wants to use http or https.
